Women’s Tennis Falls To Rival Ole Miss On Sunday

OXFORD, Miss. – Mississippi State women's tennis fell on the road at No. 51 Ole Miss 5-2 on Sunday afternoon.
No. 95 Emmanouela Antonaki and Marta Falceto each claimed singles victories for the 61st-ranked Bulldogs. Antonaki took down No. 69 Sabina Machalova 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 to earn her third ranked win of the spring.
Reka Zadori won the first set against Falceto 6-3, but Falceto fought back to take the second set 7-5 and also the third in a super tiebreaker 10-5.
Magda Adaloglou made an appearance for the first time since March 13 and fought hard against Ole Miss' 120th-ranked Anaella Leclercq. Leclercq took the first set 7-5 while Adaloglou earned the second set 7-6(3). Ultimately, Leclercq won the third set in a super tiebreaker 10-3.
Ludmilla Kareisova defeated Bulldogs' Tamara Racine 6-4, 7-5. Chloé Cirotte lost to Ole Miss' Rachel Krzyzak of the Rebels 6-4, 6-2 and Alexandra Mikhailuk fell to Lillian Gabrielsen of the Rebels 6-3, 6-1.
Ole Miss also took the doubles point earlier in the day as Machalova and Leclercq topped Racine and Cirotte 6-2 and Krzyzak and Gabrielsen blanked Mikhailuk and Alessia Tagliente.
Ole Miss moves to 9-8 overall and 3-6 in Southeastern Conference play. State fell to 10-11 overall and 1-8 in the league.
The Bulldogs head back home to host No. 52 Arkansas on Friday at 4 p.m. and Missouri on Sunday at noon.
