
Dawgs Win Fourth Straight With 13-5 Victory Over Binghamton

State scored eight runs in the eighth inning, while RJ Yeager hit two home runs on the night
Brooks Auger earned his first win in the Maroon and White after coming on in relief to start the eighth. Auger (1-0) struck out two of the three batters he faced in an inning of work and was the pitcher of record when State plated eight runs in the bottom half of the frame. Both teams used seven pitchers each on Monday evening.
RJ Yeager led the Dawgs at the plate with a 2-for-4 effort that included two home runs, four RBIs, two runs scored and a walk. Kamren James went 3-for-5 with a walk and run scored on the night, while Hunter Hines and Logan Tanner each drove in three runs in the win. State out-hit Binghamton, 11-9, on Monday.

Binghamton took a 1-0 lead in the first after the Bearcats drew a walk and hit by pitch before Cavan Tully drove in a run with an RBI single to right-center.

Bottom First
Mississippi State grabbed the lead in the bottom half after the Dawgs plated three runs – two unearned – on an error, a double by Hunter Hines and an RBI single by Kellum Clark.

Binghamton loaded the bases in the second on a double, single and walk before Connor Aoki cleared the bases on an RBI double that gave the Bearcats the lead once again.

RJ Yeager tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom half of the fourth thanks to a solo shot to left field. The home run was his first as a Diamond Dawg.

The Bearcats wasted no time regaining the lead when Connor Aoki led off the top of the fifth with a solo home run to left field to take a one-run lead over the Dawgs.

Bottom Sixth
State loaded the bases in the sixth following a two-out rally that saw Jess Davis and Luke Hancock walk and a single by Kamren James. Logan Tanner then drew a four-pitch RBI walk to tie the game for a second time.

MSU's bats came alive in the eighth when the Dawgs exploded for eight runs on four hits, including the go-ahead two-run single by Logan Tanner and three home runs by Hunter Hines, RJ Yeager and Tanner Leggett.

MSU will open SEC play with a three-game series at Georgia beginning Friday, March 18. First pitch in the series opener is set for 6 p.m. CT in Athens. The game will be broadcast on SEC Network.
