Women's Tennis Hosting Saturday Twin Bill

STARKVILLE - Mississippi State's women's tennis team is gearing up to face North Alabama in a doubleheader on Saturday.

The opening match is slated to start at noon and the next match beginning at 4 p.m. inside the Rula Tennis Pavilion.

MSU (4-1) has won 49 straight non-conference home matches dating back to the 2012-13 season.

The last action for the Bulldogs came during ITA Kick-off Weekend in Athens, Georgia where they defeated Iowa 4-1, but fell to No. 3 Georgia 4-1 in a match that was much closer than the final score suggests.

MSU's doubles have been exceptional this spring. They have not lost a doubles point through the first five matches. The No. 24 duo of Magda Adaloglou and Chloé Cirotte as well as the senior duo of Emmanouela Antonaki and Tamara Racine come in with a six-match winning streak.

In singles play, Cirotte has been on a hot streak having won seven of her last eight matches dating back to the fall. Freshman Alessia Tagliente has also impressed since joining the team in January. Tagliente has earned a 4-0 mark in singles to go with a 3-1 ledger in doubles.

State is 5-0 all-time against North Alabama, including a 4-0 record at home. The last match against the Golden Eagles was a 7-0 victory for the Bulldogs in Starkville last season.

UNA is 0-6 on the year and comes in having already played several SEC opponents, including a doubleheader against Ole Miss on Jan. 23 and a match at Vanderbilt last Friday.
