Two School Records Broken on Final Day of Maroon & White Invite

Maddy Kish and Jesse Henderson stamped themselves into the record book to finish the regular-season.
STARKVILLE – Mississippi State track and field saluted its seniors and saw two school records and four wins on the final day of the Maroon & White Invite to close the regular season.

There was excitement throughout the day at the Mike Sanders Track Complex, with many families present for graduation and senior day festivities.
Â
Maddy Kish really kicked it off with her second-place finish in the pole vault. She re-broke her own school record with a height of 4.08m in the event.

There was a Bulldog sweep in the 100 and 110 hurdles: Jesse Henderson breaking the school and freshman record for the men with a 13.64 finish and Broughton taking first for the women. Also competing for the women were Aley Woodberry who finished fourth, Asia Poe in ninth and Tierra Hooker in 15th with a personal best.

The men's 4x400m relay capped off the entire day with a win. The lineup of Leon Clarke, Cameron Crump, Gabriel Moronta and Navasky Anderson clocked a 3:10.23 finish to come in first place.

In the shot put there were two top five finishes, with Jeremiah Pierce finishing in second place for the men and Jhordyn Stallworth coming in fifth for the women with a personal-best of 14.15m. Woodberry finished in 14th, Broughton in 15th, and Poe coming in 18th with a personal best.

Tyriq Horsford won the men's javelin at 72.20m. Alumni Curtis Thompson also competed in the event as an unattached party and had the furthest throw at 77m. It was Trent Zelden's first time throwing in the javelin, and he finished at 48.03m.

The women's javelin had Caroline Standley placing second, Jenna Oetting in fourth with a personal-best at 34.50m, Broughton in sixth with a season-best, Woodberry in eighth, Tierra Hooker in 10th in her first-ever javelin competition, and Poe in 12th with a season-best throw.

In the 1500m there were four Bulldogs and all four finished in the top-15. Emma Tucker led the pack, finishing in sixth. Behind her was Audrey Honiotes in seventh with a personal-best 4:38.45 time. In 10th and 15th were Breja Hooks and Silvia De La Pena Garibay, respectively.

The men's side saw two competitors in Slater Richardson and Matthew Ray. Richardson crossed the finish line in seventh place, and Ray in 11th in his first collegiate 1500m.

Jada Grant finished in sixth place in the triple jump with a 11.62m mark.

Ashley Melcherts clocked a personal best in the 800m, finishing third in 2:11.18. Behind her were Zoe Britoin 10th and Savannah Schwab in 11th. On the men's side were Freddie Jackson III and Omari Hammond, with Jackson finishing in second and Hammond in ninth.

Cameron Crump finished in second place in the men's 100m, Henderson came in 10th, and Jacob Belin ran his first race at 11.15.
