No. 36 Mississippi State Women’s Tennis Hits The Road To Face No. 18 Auburn, No. 48 Alabama

STARKVILLE – The Mississippi State women's tennis team (9-5, 1-5 SEC), ranked 36th nationally in this week's latest ITA poll, concludes its four-match conference road swing this weekend against two Southern Region foes in Auburn (9-2, 4-1 SEC) and Alabama (9-6, 0-5 SEC). The Bulldogs will face the 18th-ranked Tigers on Thursday, March 11, at 3 p.m. CT, before meeting the 48th-ranked Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa on Saturday, March 13, at 1 p.m.

Bulldog Notes
MSU owns a 23-12 record in doubles dual match play overall, highlighted by a 9-2 ledger from the tandem of Emma Antonaki and Alexandra Mikhailuk, who have won 12 of their last 14 matches together, dating back to last spring. State's duo of Magda Adaloglou and Tamara Racine – ranked 41st nationally – own a 2-2 mark in dual match play.
In singles dual matches this spring, State is an impressive 52-20 overall and is paced by the 69th-ranked Antonaki, who is a team-leading 10-2. Antonaki has claimed 17 of her last 19 singles affairs, dating back to last season. Close behind her is Adaloglou at 9-1 and also a winner of 17 of her last 19 outings. The MSU veteran has moved into a tie for 10th place in program history for career singles wins (63), a tie for seventh in career doubles wins (55) and sole possession of eighth place for total victories (118). Racine (5-4), Mikhailuk (8-5), Poling (5-5) and Marta Falceto (5-0) round out MSU's dual match lineup.
Know the Foe: Auburn
No. 18 Auburn enters the contest with a 9-2 record, 4-1 in the SEC, with its only two losses this season coming on the road against current top 15 teams - No. 11 Vanderbilt and No. 13 Georgia Tech.
Auburn is paced by 62nd-ranked Selin Ovunc and 99th-ranked Taylor Russo in singles. Ovunc and Russo also pair up to form the nation's 11th-ranked doubles duo.
The Tigers lead the Bulldogs 30-17 in the all-time series, but the Bulldogs have claimed the last two meetings between the programs. The last outing between Auburn and Mississippi State came at the 2019 SEC Championship in Bryan-College Station, Texas, where State handed the Tigers a 4-1 decision in the opening round.

No. 48 Alabama enters this weekend's action at 9-6, 0-5 in SEC play. UA hosts No. 30 Ole Miss on Thursday (March 11), before facing the Bulldogs on Saturday.
UA's lineup is led by Loudmilla Bencheikh at the top singles spot. Bencheikh and Moka Ito form the Crimson Tide's top doubles team.
Alabama owns a 36-16 advantage over State all-time, but State has claimed four of the last five meetings between the teams. The last time the Crimson Tide and Bulldogs met was in 2019, when Alabama edged State 4-2 in Starkville.

Last weekend, Mississippi State fell to a pair of top 25 SEC squads on the road at then-No. 22 Texas A&M and No. 19 LSU.
Next Up For MSU…
