Bulldogs Post Personal Bests to Open Tiger Paw Invitational, Music City Challenge

CLEMSON, S.C./NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Six personal bests and a pair of top-10 finishes highlighted the Mississippi State track and field team's opening day at the Tiger Paw Invitational and Music City Challenge on Friday.
The multis, who shined in their last outing at the Power 5 Invitational, continued their success in Nashville. Shayla Broughton and Asia Poe earned a couple of sixth-place finishes in the high jump and long jump, respectively. Helen Claire Edmonds recorded a personal-best mark of 1.59m (5-2.5) in the high jump.
On the men's side, Jesse Henderson leaped 6.64m (21-9.5) in the long jump, setting a new career best.
Chandler Underwood shaved nearly seven seconds off of his previous personal-best with a time of 14:44.09 in the men's 5000m. State's men's distance medley relay improved their season-best by five seconds and crossed the line third in 10:12.87.
In Clemson, Faith Gilbert posted a career-best time of 7.44 in the women's 60m prelims to qualify for the semifinals. Joshua Stradford also set a personal-best in the men's 400m, finishing in 49.30.
The Bulldogs wrap up competition in Clemson and Nashville on Saturday. Madalyn Kish and Emma Hunt represents the Bulldogs in the women's Pole Vault at 10:30 a.m. CT to start the day in Nashville. In Clemson, the women's 800m is first on the docket for MSU, in which Charlotte Cayton-Smith competes.
