UAB’s Blazer Classic Next Challenge for MSU Cross Country

HOOVER, Ala. – The Mississippi State cross country team travels to Hoover, Alabama, to compete in the UAB Blazer Classic on Friday.
"With this meet being our last race before the SEC Championship, we need to come with the same mindset that a championship race will require," distance coach Patrick McGregor said. "Each individual will have a goal-oriented preparation within the context of maximizing team performance. We're fit. If everyone stays tough, we should be fine."
The Bulldogs toe the line with Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Middle Tennessee, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt in the women's green 6K race. The race, hosted by UAB, will be held at Veterans Park at 7:45 a.m. CT.
Sylvia Russell has led the way for the Bulldogs this season, posting consecutive personal bests in the SEC Preview 5K and FSU Invite 5K. Junior Sydney Steely will make her 2020 debut on Friday.
