Soccer Faces LSU in Second Home Match Sunday

The Bulldogs take on the Tigers at 3 p.m.
STARKVILLE – The Bulldogs of Mississippi State women's soccer will take on LSU at home for their first Sunday match on October 11. The matchup will kick off at 3 p.m. at the Mississippi State Soccer Field and will be broadcast on the SEC Network.

State (1-0-2) faces LSU (0-2-0) for the Bulldogs second home game of the season on Sunday, where the Bulldogs look to stay undefeated.

LSU has a new coach in her first season in Baton Rouge in Sian Hudson. The Tigers have not found a win so far in 2020, with two losses coming against Arkansas and Ole Miss and a match against Auburn postponed. Three players have four shots each, with the Tigers to watch being Tinaya Alexander, Chiara Ritchie-Williams, and Shannon Cooke. LSU has added a talented transfer in Wasila Diwura-Soale and returns Maya Gordon, Meghan Johnson, Rammie Noel, and Maddie Moreau.Â

Last match, the Bulldogs defeated the Rebels in Oxford for the first time since 2001 and brought home the Magnolia Cup for the first time since 2012. Monigo Karnley had her first game-winner of the season off a corner kick with help from Onyi Echegini and Birna Jóhannsdóttir. Karnley's goal came with two other shots which had one other on target. Echegini, the current team leader in shots, had three shots with all three on goal.Â
