February 23, 2026 | Soccer
STARKVILLE – Head coach Kevin O'Brien has completed his first staff at Mississippi State with the addition of Lucy Ream as the program's director of soccer operations. Ream comes to Mississippi State after one year as the director of operations at Lipscomb where she served under O'Brien.
"We're excited to welcome Lucy Ream as our new director of operations at Mississippi State," O'Brien said. "I had the privilege of coaching Lucy earlier in her career and witnessed firsthand her incredible work ethic, professionalism and commitment to excellence. She brings a strong administrative skillset that will elevate our entire program and allow our staff to fully focus on training, development and serving our student-athletes at the highest level. Most importantly, she is someone I trust completely, and I know she will make an immediate impact on our team and culture."
Prior to being hired as the director of operations for Lipscomb, Ream was a two-year letterwinner for the Bisons after transferring from Eastern Kentucky.
"I'm so excited to be here at Mississippi State," Ream said. "Getting the chance to support our coaches and student-athletes so they can continue doing what they love is an amazing opportunity. There are so many new things and people to see in Starkville, and I'm excited for the opportunity to experience it all."
In her time as a player for O'Brien, Ream twice earned All-ASUN honors. As a junior, she earned Second Team honors after starting in 19 of 20 games as a defender while scoring three goals and adding three assists. That year saw Lipscomb win the 2023 ASUN Regular Season Championship after going 10-0-1 in conference play. All 10 conference victories were shutouts. The team finished with a 14-5-1 overall record, setting a then-school record for wins.
In her senior season, Ream was named Third Team All-ASUN and picked up an ASUN Defensive Player of the Week honor. She started all 21 games she appeared in as the Bisons won the ASUN Tournament title and matched the program record with 14 victories. Ream logged more than 1,660 minutes that season.
As a freshman at Eastern Kentucky, Ream logged 18 starts in 19 appearances and had the second-most minutes on the team. She scored twice and logged four assists in four different matches.
Ream graduated from Lipscomb in 2025 with a degree in middle grade education.
