STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State's women's tennis team (10-4, 1-1 SEC) is slated to close its current four-match road stint against in-state rival Ole Miss (3-5, 0-2) at 1 p.m. CT Sunday at UM's Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.

State is fresh off an exciting program-first triumph over the Florida Gators last Sunday in Gainesville. Three Bulldogs battled through three-set marathon matches to lead State over the Gators in a 4-3 affair. Following the first weekend of SEC action, 81st-ranked Emma Antonaki holds the Bulldogs' longest singles streak, taking 11 straight singles matches in dual play. Last week, MSU also swept SEC honors with Antonaki being named the SEC Freshman of the Week and State senior Anastasia Rentouli earning SEC Player of the Week.

Bulldogs In The Oracle ITA Rankings …
Two Bulldogs have consistently held national spots in singles. State newcomer Antonaki moved up to the 81st-ranked singles spot, holding a team-leading 20-6 overall singles mark through fall tournament play and 14 dual matches. Antonaki holds a 4-3 record against ranked opponents, 4-1 against top 60 contenders. MSU sophomore Magda Adaloglou is the 113th-ranked player nationally at present, boasting a 13-11 overall record in singles action, including a 6-5 record in the Bulldogs' top singles spot.

Know The Foe: Ole Miss
MSU's in-state rival Ole Miss fell in contests at Florida and South Carolina to open conference play last weekend. The Rebels' lone ranked doubles pair of Alexa Bortles and Isolde De Jong (78th) hold a 6-3 record on the season. In 2018, Ole Miss earned a 22-7 overall record, 8-3 in Oxford. The Rebels advanced to last year's NCAA Round of 16, ultimately falling there to UCLA.

Mississippi State is playing its 94^th season of women's tennis, with Daryl Greenan in his 10th season at the helm.
The series between MSU and Ole Miss dates back to 1975, with the Rebels holding a 53-7 ledger.

Last Time Out For MSU …
MSU opened SEC action in Columbia, South Carolina, against 10^th-ranked South Carolina last weekend. The Bulldogs ultimately fell in a 4-1 decision, but found redemption on Sunday in Gainesville. State persevered through a marathon contest against Florida to earn a 4-3 decision – the program's first victory over the Gators ever - with two Bulldogs notching upset wins in the process. Rentouli, along with newcomer Meredith Roberts and true freshman Tamara Racine, all pulled out three-set wins to help the Bulldogs come back from 3-1 down for the historic triumph.

Next Up For MSU …
Following Sunday's match with the Rebels, State returns to Starkville for its SEC home opener at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre this Friday, March 15, hosting the 36^th-ranked Auburn Tigers at 3 p.m. CT. MSU will then welcome Alabama Sunday at Noon.
