MSU Track and Field To Compete In Three Meets This Weekend

STARKVILLE – Fresh off the heels of an impressive start to the 2019 outdoor season at home in the Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays, Mississippi State track and field is set to compete in a trio of meets this weekend, with two in Texas and one in North Carolina.
Several MSU athletes will compete in the prestigious Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, while others will represent the Bulldogs in nearby San Marcos at the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Texas State, both running March 28-30. Additionally, a host of middle-distance and distance runners trek to Raleigh, North Carolina, for the 2019 adidas Raleigh Relays, held March 29-30 at North Carolina State.
Alicia Viveros will open the weekend for MSU in the women's discus throw at 11 a.m. CT Thursday at Texas State. Later in the day, four Bulldog athletes will run in the 400m hurdle prelims at Texas, held at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
Riley White is set to run at approximately 4:30 p.m. before SEC leader Charles Brockman III, Rasheed Tatham and Malcum Tatum run in the men's prelims at 5 p.m. Brockman III ranks fourth in the NCAA and 26th in the world in the event, while Tatham and Tatum rank 10th and 17th in the NCAA.
Portions of each day's events in Austin will be aired live on Longhorn Network and can be streamed via WatchESPN.

What To Note For This Weekend's Meets…
In Texas, MSU's 12th-ranked men will take on foes from eight teams ranked in the USTFCCCA TFRI Top 25 including top-ranked Texas Tech, No. 2 Texas A&M, No. 5 BYU, No. 6 Houston, hosts No. 8 Texas, No. 9 LSU, No. 13 Baylor and No. 23 Arkansas. Auburn and Missouri are the other two SEC teams represented in Austin.
State's women will face competition from six ranked teams including No. 2 Texas A&M, No. 3 LSU, No. 4 Arkansas, No. 9 Colorado, No. 14 Texas Tech and No. 19 Texas, while Missouri joins as the other SEC team competing.
In Raleigh, No. 4 Florida, No. 10 Georgia and No. 11 Florida State are the only other ranked men's teams, while the Bulldog women will run against athletes from No. 5 Florida State, No. 10 Florida, No. 15 Georgia, No. 24 Notre Dame and No. 25 Georgia Tech. Ole Miss will also be represented by several men and women, while Vanderbilt is also set to attend on the women's side.
Competition in Raleigh starts just after 9 a.m. CT with Stephen Jones and Luke Zacharias running in the men's 5000m. Portions of both days' action will be streamed lived on ACC Network Extra via WatchESPN, with Friday's broadcast beginning at 7 p.m. while Saturday's broadcast begins at 1:20 p.m.

- Eight of MSU's current school records have been set at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.
- Anderson Peters earned National Athlete of the Week and Co-SEC Men's Field Athlete of the Week after throwing the No. 2 javelin mark in the world in 2019 on Saturday at the Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays. His throw ranks 11th in NCAA history and he is one of just two athletes in NCAA history to throw 82.60m (271-0.0) or more three times in a career, joining collegiate record holder Patrik Boden (Texas).
- Mississippi State's men's team was ranked 12th nationally in the USTFCCCA TFRI preseason rankings, which is MSU's highest to open an outdoor campaign since starting the 2011 season eighth nationally.
- 30 current Bulldogs are inside the Top 5 in outdoor school history in their events.
- Alon Lewis holds 10 top-5 marks in outdoor school history in her events, which ranks second in program history.
- Peyton Mickelson holds the school record in both the indoor and outdoor pole vault after clearing 3.95m (12-11.5) on Saturday at the Bulldog Relays.
