MSU’s Brockman III, Tatham Advance To 400m Hurdles Final At Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas/SAN MARCOS, Texas – A pair of Mississippi State athletes advanced to Friday's men's 400m hurdles final at the 92nd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on Thursday in Austin.
Rasheed Tatham and Charles Brockman III were two of the top nine finishers in the event, finishing with the seventh and ninth-fastest times of the day at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
Alicia Viveros was MSU's lone competitor on the first day of the Bobcat Invitational, throwing the discus in the event at Texas State. There, the sophomore from Bakersfield, California, hurled the implement a season-best 42.68m (140-0.0) to place 16th.
In the women's 400m hurdles prelims, Riley White finished 21st with a personal-best time of 1:01.47.
Tatham began the day for the Bulldogs' trio of 400m hurdlers Thursday, running 51.96 to finish second in his heat. Malcum Tatum followed that up with a time of 52.37 that was the 13th-fastest mark of the day. Brockman III, the SEC leader in the event entering Thursday, capped off MSU's first day in Texas by clocking a time of 52.22, which was ninth-best overall. The top nine times advanced to Friday's final slated for a 5:40 p.m. CT start.
MSU will continue action in Texas on Friday and Saturday, while a contingent of middle distance and distance runners are set to begin competition in the adidas Raleigh Relays, hosted by North Carolina State, on Friday.
The Bulldogs begin Friday competition at the Texas Relays at 9:55 a.m. in the men's 4x100m prelims, with Asia Poe jumping in the women's high jump at the Bobcat Invitational at 3 p.m. Portions of both days' action in Austin will be aired live on Longhorn Network, with broadcasts running from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. CT and from 5-7 p.m.
In Raleigh, Stephen Jones and Luke Zacharias start things off for MSU in the men's 5000m with first gun slated for 9:02 a.m. Starting at 6 p.m. CT, fans can watch the Raleigh Relays on ACC Network Extra.
