MSU Women’s Tennis To Open SEC Play At South Carolina Friday

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State's women's tennis team (9-3) is set to open another anticipated chapter of SEC action at 4 p.m. CT on Friday, March 1, against the No. 10 South Carolina Gamecocks (5-2) at the Carolina Tennis Center in Columbia, South Carolina.
Coming off last Friday's setback against South Florida, State seeks to open conference play against the 10th-ranked Gamecocks on a strong note. Rookie and 104th-ranked Emma Antonaki now holds the longest singles streak on the team, having taken nine straight singles matches in dual play.
Bulldogs In The Oracle ITA Rankings …
Two Bulldogs hold national spots in singles. State sophomore Magda Adaloglou moved up to the 89th-ranked singles spot, holding a 13-9 overall singles mark through fall tournament play and 12 dual matches. The true freshman Antonaki is the 104th-ranked player nationally, boasting a team-leading 18-6 overall record in singles action.
Know The Foe: South Carolina
No. 10 South Carolina finished the 2018 season with an 11-2 SEC ledger, also making it to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Team Championship. Notable Gamecocks include 10th-ranked Ingrid Gamarra Martins, 38th-ranked Paige Cline and 95th-ranked Mia Horvit in singles. Horvit and Gamarra Martins pair as the second-ranked doubles team in the nation, with Rachel Rohrabacher and Megan Davies standing as the 34th-ranked tandem.
