STARKVILLE – Some of the best athletes in collegiate track and field will be on display this weekend in Fayetteville, Arkansas, where the Mississippi State track and field teams are headed for the 2019 SEC Indoor Championships.
The meet, held at Arkansas' Randal Tyson Track Center, will be scored in the tradition 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 format. Portions of both days' events will be streamed live on SEC Network+, with Dwight Stones (play-by-play), Jill Montgomery (analyst) and SportsCenter anchor John Anderson (reporter) on the call.
"This is what we work toward all year," interim head coach Chris Woods said. "We compete in the best conference in the country, and this weekend we will get to see how far we've come since January. We've had some great performances throughout the indoor season, but this is where we really need to make it count. We still have plenty of potential to put forth our best performances on one of the biggest stages of the year, and we can't wait to get started on Friday."
On the men's side, the Bulldogs will take on seven teams ranked inside the top 25 of the USTFCCA Track & Field Ratings Index (TFRI), including No. 2 Texas A&M, No. 3 Florida, No. 5 LSU, No. 6 Georgia, No. 13 Alabama, No. 18 South Carolina and No. 19 Ole Miss.
MSU's women will face eight ranked opponents, including top-ranked hosts Arkansas, No. 4 LSU, No. 6 Kentucky, No. 7 Florida, No. 14 Alabama, No. 17 South Carolina, No. 23 Georgia and No. 24 Tennessee.
State opens the weekend on Friday with Zaria Tillman in the pentathlon at 11 a.m. CT. The first running event of the weekend will be the men's mile prelims, featuring Bulldogs Caden Foos and Kenya Small, with the first gun set for 3:45 p.m.
Also on Friday, sophomore sensation Marco Arop will take to the track at 5:55 p.m. in the men's 800m prelims, hoping to build on his spectacular Canadian-record-setting performance earlier this month at Clemson.
Asia Poe will get things started on Saturday for the Maroon and White in the women's high jump at 1:15 p.m. The freshman will also be competing in the women's long jump, an event in which she ranks ninth in the NCAA and second in the conference (first among all freshmen), at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

Saturday (Feb. 23) – 2:55 p.m.-6:30 p.m. (SEC Network+)
