2 - The Bulldogs have returned two interceptions for touchdowns, which is tied for seventh nationally and second in the SEC
Storylines
- The Bulldogs set school records for total offensive yards (640) and rushing yards (460) in an SEC game two weeks ago in their 54-24 win at Arkansas. QB Tommy Stevens got the start at signal-caller and went 12-of-18 passing for 172 yards and two touchdowns. He completed passes to nine different Bulldogs and had big gains of 27, 33 and 42 yards.
- Highlighted by runs of 62, 58 and 37 yards, RB Kylin Hill ran for a career-high 234 yards and three touchdowns against the Razorbacks and was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week. He is the third running back in school history to earn the honor multiple times in a career, joining Jerious Norwood (2002-05) and Anthony Dixon (2006-09).
- RB Kylin Hill's 234 rushing yards at Arkansas are the most by an SEC player in a conference game since LSU's Derrius Guice had 276 vs. Ole Miss on Oct. 21, 2017. Hill became the first player in MSU history with over 230 yards rushing and three touchdowns in the same game. The 234 rushing yards were the fifth-most by an MSU player in school history and just 24 shy of the school record. With the performance, Hill went over 1,000 yards rushing for the season, went over 2,000 for his career, and he tallied his SEC leading sixth 100-yard rushing game of the season.
- RB Nick Gibson also had a career performance against the Hogs, rushing for 129 yards and one touchdown. It marked the first time in school history MSU had a running back with 200+ rushing yards (Hill) and another running back with 100+ rushing yards (Gibson). Gibson's solid showing was highlighted by a 47-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter for State's longest such run of the season.
- The Bulldogs' offensive line, led by Rimington Trophy candidate C Darryl Williams, had arguably its most dominant effort of the season. The unit did not allow a sack or even a QB hit and surrendered just three hurries. They saw action in a season-high 76 plays, paving the way for 8.1 yards per rush and 13.8 yards per completion.
- LB Erroll Thompson is the Bulldogs' leading tackler (63), averaging 7.0 per game. Six different Bulldogs have combined for seven interceptions, including two returned for touchdowns. After LB Willie Gay Jr.'s pick-six vs. Kentucky on Sept. 21 and S Marcus Murphy's pick-six at Arkansas, State is the only SEC team with multiple interceptions returned for a touchdown against conference opponents this season. DE Marquiss Spencer has racked up 11 total pressures and four QB hits over the last five games, logging multiple pressures in each contest.
