MSU Men’s Tennis To Open Fall Action Friday In Virginia, South Carolina

STARKVILLE – It has been five months since the Mississippi State men's tennis team last took the court.
That ends Friday, with six Bulldogs taking the court to open the fall campaign.
Four Bulldogs will open up their 2018 fall competition in Charlottesville, Virginia, at the UVA Masters tournament hosted by perennial powerhouse Virginia: Niclas Braun, Florian Broska, Giovanni Oradini and Strahinja Rakic.
The tournament, which runs from Sept. 21-23 at the Snyder Tennis Center, is a double-elimination tournament featuring top-level collegiate talent. The winner of the singles draw will earn a wildcard entry into qualifying for the ATP Charlottesville Challenger in October.
The sophomore Broska opens up play at 11 a.m. CT Friday against Ivan Saveljic of North Carolina State. Braun, a senior, will start his fall against Columbia's Adam Ambrozy, also at 11 a.m.
Oradini, the fifth-ranked player in the nation, earned the top seed in the singles draw and a first-round bye. The Bulldog junior will take the court at approximately 2 p.m. Friday against the winner of Virginia's Spencer Bozsik and Florida's Lucas Grief.
The 43rd-ranked Rakic earned the No. 8 seed in singles and a first-round bye, meaning the senior will take on the winner of the match between Virginia's William Woodall and McClain Kessler of Florida at 2:30 p.m.
The tournament also features three doubles draws, with the nation's seventh-ranked duo of Braun and Oradini earning the top spot in the Blue Draw. Braun and Oradini, who went 18-3 in 2017-18, will take the court at 9 a.m. Friday against either Columbia's Ambrozy and Jackie Tang or Virginia's Ammar Alhaqbani and Spencer Bozsik.
Broska and Rakic will pair up for the first time in their careers at 8 a.m. Friday against host Virginia's Goetz and Matthew Lord in the White Draw.
In addition to the Bulldogs' quartet in Virginia, a rookie and a veteran will be opening up their fall slates not too far away in Columbia, South Carolina, at the Gamecock Fall Invitational. 2018 SEC Tournament MVP Trevor Foshey joins Bulldog freshman Gregor Ramskogler in Columbia for the three-day event.
Ramksogler and Foshey will open up at 7 a.m. CT in doubles against Georgia Southern's Muniz and Kerssens before taking the singles courts at 8:30 a.m.
In his MSU singles debut, Ramskogler is set to face Frazier Rengifo of East Tennessee State, while Foshey is set to take on Duke's Robert Maciag. All matches for Ramskogler and Foshey will be played at the Carolina Tennis Center on the USC campus.
MSU's two-time All-American senior Nuno Borges – ranked No. 2 nationally - opened up his season in qualifying at the ATP Challenger in Columbus, Ohio, this past weekend and will not compete this weekend.

After returning from this weekend's tournaments, the Bulldogs will prepare for one of the top tournaments of the year—the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The week-long tournament, featuring the top talent in Division I college tennis, runs from Oct. 1-8.
