No. 31 MSU Women’s Tennis Faces No. 46 William & Mary Friday To Open NCAA Championship

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Making a program-record fourth consecutive NCAA appearance, the 31st-ranked Mississippi State women's tennis team (15-10) begins play in the 2018 NCAA Championship Friday, facing 46th-ranked William & Mary (17-9) in the opening round. Friday's match is slated for a 9 a.m. CT start time at North Carolina's Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
Live stats will be provided via statbroadcast.com for Friday's match, which is the first-ever meeting between the Bulldogs and Tribe. Should State advance, MSU will play again Saturday against the winner of top-ranked and second-seeded regional host UNC or Morgan State for the right to advance to the NCAA Round of 16 in Winston-Salem, N.C., on May 17.
"We are just really excited to get back on the court and compete," associate head coach Sachin Kirtane said. "It has been three weeks since we played last so I know the girls are really excited. Daryl and I are very excited to have these girls back out there competing. We love their energy and they represent Mississippi State in the best way possible. We are looking forward to what they can do tomorrow when they step out on that court to represent the Maroon & White."

State's first-round foe, William & Mary, earned an automatic bid after defeating James Madison in the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament Championship. It will be the first meeting between the Bulldogs and Tribe in program history. The Tribe is led by the CAA Championship's Most Outstanding Performer Rosie Cheng at the No. 1 position with an 11-10 record.

· Senior Khrystyna Vozniak is 13-3 in dual matches this spring

· Madison Harrison and Vozniak have won five of their last seven matches in doubles, including four upset victories
· It marks the first time in program history for MSU to have earned four consecutive NCAA appearances
· MSU earned its eighth NCAA Team Championship berth overall
· State is 5-7 in its seven previous appearances in the NCAA Team Championship, including 5-2 mark in the opening round
