Dawgs To Open SEC Play At Home Versus South Carolina On Friday

STARKVILLE, Miss. – With four non-conference tournament weekends complete, Mississippi State (9-6) welcomes South Carolina (7-5) to Newell-Grissom for the 2017 SEC opener.
First serve is set for 7 p.m. CT, with the SEC Network + handling the broadcast. Fans can access the match through WatchESPN or the Watch ESPN app.
"South Carolina is good offensively," third-year coach David McFatrich said. "They are good from the service line. Those are two of their biggest strengths that jump out at me when watching film of them."
The Bulldogs face off against the Gamecocks for the 45th time. USC has won the last two matches and holds a 32-12 series advantage, including a 10-8 mark in Starkville.

Scouting The South Carolina Gamecocks
During the last weekend of non-conference play, South Carolina went 2-1 to improve to 7-5 on the year. Away, the Gamecocks are 2-0.

At the conclusion of the conference opener, the Dawgs will turn their attention to the Volunteers to wrap up the weekend. MSU and Tennessee will battle it out on Sunday, Sept. 24 at 12:30 p.m. CT. The game will be played in Thompson-Boling Arena and broadcasted on SEC Network +.
