MSU Ladies Dominate Six of Eight Events On First Day In Boston
February 03, 2017 | Track & Field
Boston, Mass. – It was total domination on day one in Boston.
The MSU women competed in eight events Friday at Harvard and Boston University, and won six of them.
The largest victory of the day belonged to the foursome of Ffion Price, Alon Lewis, Charlotte Cayton-Smith and Rhianwedd Price who obliterated the school record in the DMR by a full five seconds. Their time of 11.10 was good enough for a first place finish, and is currently the sixth best time in the nation.
Brianna Smith set a personal best in the weight throw in her win, tossing 19.83m which is the second longest throw in school history.
Tiffany Flynn and Leah Lott both jumped 6.03m in the long jump to take first and second. Flynn grabbed the edge over her teammate with a longer second-best jump. Lott returned the favor however, edging out Flynn in the 60m hurdle with a personal-best 8.28 second mark.
Alexis Farley set a personal best in her victory in the triple jump, leaping 12.57m. Just a freshman, Farley's jump is already the fifth best in MSU history.

On the men's side, Willie Reed shattered his personal best in the 60m hurdle for the second week in a row. This time, the junior ran 8.02 seconds to move on to the finals.
"This was the sort of day we were capable of," MSU Coach Steve Dudley said. "These courses provided one of the fastest surfaces we will see this season, and the women took full advantage of that. We have had some pretty good DMR times in the past, so for this group to come out here and obliterate that record by more than five seconds is nothing short of incredible. We've got another full day tomorrow, and I am excited to see what else we can accomplish."
