MSU Women Nab Top 5 Finish At Crimson Classic

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – In the final regular-season meet of the season, the Mississippi State women finished third overall with 126 points at the Crimson Classic with four Bulldogs in the top 50.
Shannon Fair led the Maroon and White surge with a time of 20:44.9, giving the Augusta, Ga., native, a fifth-place finish. The junior now has three Top 10 finishes in three meets this season.
"You always want to win, but we're getting better and better, especially our younger athletes," MSU coach Houston Franks said. "Now, it's all about the postseason and championships."
The duo of Stephanie Peterson and Lisa Oed join Fair in the Top 10. Peterson finished with a time of 20:47.7 and a eighth-place finish, w hile Oed placed 10th at 20:50.6.
Rounding out the Bulldog quartet in the Top 50, Kristy Terp finished 43rd at 21:43.4.
Emma Tucker ran a 21:59.5 to finish 61st. Freshman Audrey Honinotes ran a 22:25.0 to finish 89th to give MSU a total of six Bulldogs in the Top 100.
Sophomore Alex Wallace finished 101st with at time of 22:36.4, followed by Katherine Badham (22:50.9) in 123rd , Carly Terp (23:03.3) in 133rd, Alyssa Staubach (24:14.7) in 210th and Charlotte Cayton-Smith (25:09.0) in 238th.
"This was a great meet to prepare us for the SECs," Franks said. "There were six SEC teams here and that should have given us a good feel for what to expect next."
The MSU men totaled 370 points and a 12th place finish in the 8,000 meters.
Leading the way for the men, Stephen Jones ran a 25:31.6 and a 43rd place finish.
Aaron Phelps and JT Mackay join Jones in the top 100. Phelps in 64th with a 25:52.3 and Mackay in 67th with a 25:55.3.
Ben Craw (26:40.5) lead the next wave of Bulldogs finishing 116th, followed by Zach Weaver (26:46.3) in 122nd, Luke Zacharias (26:54.4) in 132nd, Eryk Yunk (27:01.2) in 140th.
John Dalton Rohr (27:10.0) finished in 149th, followed by Quintin Resier (27:11.8) in 167th Lake Spradling (27:35) and Chandler Underwood (28:05) in 183rd.
Georgia Tech won the Women's side, while Middle Tennesee State won the men's side.
Next up for MSU is the SEC Championships on Oct. 27 at Georgia.
