MSU Turns Focus To NCAA Regionals
November 09, 2017 | Cross Country
STARKVILLE, Miss. – With the temperatures dropping and the season nearing an end, the level of intensity has been retched up for the Mississippi State cross country team.
The Bulldogs head to the Alabama-hosted NCAA Regional looking to punch a ticket to the NCAA Championship for the third-straight season.
"This is what you work hard for all year long," MSU coach Houston Franks said. "I like our focus. We all know we have to be at our best in order to advance again. We've set the bar high, but we welcome the expectations."
The NCAA South Regional will consist of 34 teams on the men's side and 41 on the women's side. Harry Pritchett Running Park will play host. It's a familiar course for MSU, which finished third there at the Crimson Classic back in October.
After coming off a Top 5 finish at the SEC Championships last month at Georgia, the Maroon and White will be led by the All-SEC duo of Shannon Fair and Lisa Oed.
"They've been strong for us all year, and I expect the same Friday," Franks said. "They've got to run their race and stay the course without altering their game plan."
The women's 6,000m is set for 9 a.m. CT, while the men's 10,000m will start at 10 a.m.
Nationals will be held on Nov. 18 in Louisville, Ky.
