Alon Lewis broke two personal records over the weekend
Bulldogs Conclude Weekend at Loaded Razorback Invitational
January 28, 2017 | Track & Field
Fayetteville, Ark. – It was the toughest test to date for the Mississippi State track and field program, but several Bulldogs put forth career performances against the nation's best.
An additional 14 personal bests were set over the two day Razorback Invitational, and Logan Boss broke her own MSU record on Friday. Tiffany Flynn climbed the Bulldog record books, moving into second in the 60m hurdle (8.23) and fifth in the long jump (6.23m).
Alon Lewis set two new personal bests in Fayetteville, running her fastest 200m dash (24.90) and 400m dash (55.27) times of her career.
Willie Reed ran the best 60m hurdle time of his career, posting a time of 8.10 to propel him to the finals. On the women's side of the 60m hurdle, both Flynn and Leah Lott advanced from the preliminary round to the final. Lott's time of 8.39 was good for sixth place and set a new PR. Flynn finished fourth overall, and Lott came in just behind her at eighth overall.
Hailing from France, Romain Bourreau made his MSU debut on Saturday. The junior transfer competed in the triple jump, setting a personal best at 14.86m to finish seventh.
"This was one of those weekends that really show you how you are progressing," MSU Coach Steve Dudley said. "There were so many ranked teams competing here, so this provides us a good measuring stick for where we need to improve moving forward. We are not that far away from SEC's and then nationals, so it was good to see a lot of our team make improvements from the start of the season. We have to turn around and put this one behind us, because we have another tough meet in Boston next weekend."
The Bulldogs return to action next weekend in Boston, Mass., competing in the Harvard and Boston Invitationals.
