Logan Boss Breaks School Record for Second-Consecutive Week
January 27, 2017 | Track & Field
Fayetteville, Ark. – Competing at the toughest meet of the regular season, Junior Logan Boss experienced Déjà vu and set the Mississippi State record in the high jump for the second week in a row with a leap of 1.86m (6'1.25").
In a meet that featured 10 teams ranked inside the USTFCCCA's top 25, Boss made things look easy. The junior won by .18m, surging ahead of the pack in a five-way tie for second place at 1.68m.
Junior Tiffany Flynn set a new personal best in the long jump, leaping 6.23m (20'5.25"). That mark places her fifth in the Bulldog record book. In the 200m dash, freshman Justice Sims and sophomore Alon Lewis each set new PRs. Sims posted a time of 24.82, while Lewis checked in at 24.90.
On the men's side, junior Willie Reed grabbed a 12th place finish in the long jump checking in at 7.18m (23'6.75"). Three Bulldogs competed in the 200m dash, with Philip Smith grabbed 13th, Charles Taylor taking 19th and Brian Evans finishing 22nd.
"We had some really, really great performances today," MSU Coach Steve Dudley said. "Logan is in such a zone right now. To come out here against this level of competition, and set a new school record for the second week in a row is really special. I really like the way she is jumping right now, and we are excited to see what she is going to do for the remainder of the season. We have a lot of events to come tomorrow, so we have to make sure we rest up and get out here tomorrow ready to get after it."
MSU returns to action tomorrow at 11:05 am, opening with the men's 400m. The meet will be broadcast on SECN+, and can be viewed here.
