STARKVILLE, Miss. – MSU wrapped up it's first weekend on the track and final day in Birmingham with an additional nine events Saturday in the Vulcan Invitational.

Several Bulldogs had big days, including a pair of throwers who each set new PR's and nearly grabbed MSU records.

Brianna Smith, already the owner of the second best toss in Bulldog history, bested her own mark with a throw of 19.82 meters. She finished just short of the record of 20.24 meters set in 2012 by Favian Cowards.

Her teammate Haley Reynolds also set a new PR with a toss of 14.93 meters. She fell just short of Nicola Wilson's mark of 14.97 meters set in 2006.

"It was another great day for us," MSU coach Steve Dudley said. "It is always great when people break records, especially their own. That is such a big portion of this sport. You are always competing against yourself, and trying to be better than you were the day before. I am really proud of how everyone competed this weekend, and I think this will be a good metric for us to judge ourselves and improve going forward."

The Bulldogs return to action next weekend in Nashville as the team competes in the Vanderbilt Invitational.
