Logan Boss is the new school record holder in the high jump (1.84m), moving past four-time All-American Erica Bougard
Bulldogs Smash Records On First Day In Nashville
January 20, 2017 | Track & Field
STARKVILLE, Miss. – It's not easy breaking school records. That feat becomes even more difficult when the record is held by a four-time All-American.
Friday afternoon in Nashville, Junior Logan Boss set a new record in the high jump with a leap of 1.84m. That jump edged out the previous school record of 1.83m held by Erica Bougard.
"I'm really proud of Logan," MSU Coach Steve Dudley said. "You could tell she really wanted to take a big step forward moving into her junior year, and she has done that with the work she put in during the off season. Overall, I thought we had a lot of really good performances today, and we will be ready to come back out tomorrow and do it all again."
Haley Reynolds and Madelyn Lee also set new personal bests in the weight throw, tossing 17.45m and 13.80m, respectively. Sophomore Leah Lott recorded the best long jump of her career with a leap of 6.06m, while Justice Sims, Alon Lewis and Monica Mosley all recorded new 200m dash PRs.
On the men's side, freshman Alec Byham made his collegiate debut, leaping 1.90m in the high jump. Junior Willie Reed grabbed a top-five finish in the long jump with a distance of 7.33m
MSU returns to action tomorrow at 10 a.m., beginning with the 3000m run.
