Bulldogs In The SEC & NCAA Statistical Standings…
Block Show By The Dogs…
Despite falling in a five-set heartbreaker, the Bulldogs played one of their more dominant matches of the season to date against the Sooners. Most notable was MSU's defensive presence, as they tallied 15.0 total blocks, a season high and the most by a Bulldog team in the David McFatrich era. The last time State put up 15.0 blocks in a match was against Missouri on Oct. 19, 2014.
Bulldogs Taking On The Big 12…
When David McFatrich became the head coach in January 2015, he promised that the Bulldogs would take on the nation's top talent. The 2016 schedule shows that promise was no joke, as State has taken on a pair of Big 12 foes, with one more to go. MSU dropped a tightly-contested contest to No. 5 Kansas to open the season at home and then took Oklahoma to five sets in Little Rock. The Bulldogs will now take on Kansas State in Manhattan this weekend to kick off the Wildcat Classic.
Hill, Singleton Earn All-Tournament Honors…
For the second-straight weekend, the attacking duo of Emily Hill and Evie Grace Singleton paced the Bulldogs in kills and points. Hill turned in 34 kills and 37.5 points, while Singleton earned 54 kills and 62.5 points, both landing on the Little Rock Invitational All-Tournament Team. It it the first all-tournament honor for Hill, while it is the sixth for Singleton since her arrival in Starkville last season.
Singleton Wraps Up Solid Weekend Back Home…
After setting a career high with 27 kills against Little Rock on Friday night, the Bulldog senior and Little Rock native followed it up with 23 kills against the Sooners. For the weekend, Singleton racked up 54 kills on .328 hitting with 7 aces. She leads the Bulldogs in kills this year with 109, while also pacing State with 12 aces and 124.5 points.
…And Puts Her Name In The MSU Record Book
Singleton's 27 kills did more than just set a career high for the senior. The 27 now stands as the most by a Bulldog player in a four-set match, while placing ninth across all matches at MSU. It also marks the most kills since Kimmy Gardiner tallied 27 against UAB in 2013.
Vujcin Shines In Little Rock…
It hasn't taken long for transfer Jelena Vujcin to find her rhythm in the Maroon and White. In three appearances this past weekend at the Little Rock Invitational, the Becej, Serbia native tallied 32 kills, 11 blocks and 39.5, while only committing 2 attacking errors and 1 blocking error.
Her .667 hitting percentage in a 3-0 win against UT Martin now stands as her career high, as she connected for 8 kills on 12 attacks with no errors in three sets.
Harris Closing In On Digs Record…
Junior Payton Harris now stands at 1,302 digs for her career and continues to make strides up the MSU record book. She currently holds fifth place on the school's career digs list, passing Jennifer Shupe (1996-99) last weekend. She is now 69 digs away from tying Shauna Owens (1988-91) for fourth place. Melissa Kariker (1993-96) holds the school record with 1,707.
100 Matches And Counting For Duhs…
When Chelsea Duhs took the court against UT Martin on Sept. 2, she reached a milestone in her career. The appearance marked the 100th match played by the Bulldog senior, all in the Maroon and White.
