Thirty-five Former Diamond Dawgs in Pro Baseball

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Thirty-five former Mississippi State baseball players are currently in professional baseball, including three currently playing in the MLB. Below are their updated stats following games which ended Wednesday, August 31, 2016. Please tweet any corrections to @HailStateBB.

With 29 home runs and 104 runs batted in this season, Hunter Renfroe was named to the All-Pacific Coast League team on August 29 and named the PCL Most Valuable Player on Sept. 1.
Chris Stratton registered his 12^th victory of the year, tossing seven shutout innings with eight strikeouts against Reno on August 30. Stratton finished the month of August with a 5-1 record and a 1.72 ERA.
Evan Mitchell, after a stellar 2016 season with Double-A Pensacola (CIN), has been assigned to the Reds Arizona Fall League team.
Tyler Moore returned to the Gwinnett Braves (AAA-ATL) lineup on August 18 after a stint on the disabled list and has hit three of his four home runs since then.
Kendall Graveman has become a key arm in the Oakland A's bullpen, going 8-3 in his last 16 games, including a complete game two-hit shutout of the Chicago White Sox on August 19.
Jonathan Holder earned International League Pitcher of the Week after a stellar performance on August 28 in which he struck out 12 of the 13 batters he faced in four innings, including 11-straight. Since his promotion on July 21, Holder has been nearly unhittable, allowing just seven hits and zero walks to 35 strikeouts in 12 appearances.
After hitting .311 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Adam Frazier was optioned to rookie-level Bristol on August 28.
Zac Houston continued to pitch lights-out on the mound since being promoted to Full season-A West Michigan, where his ERA now sits at 0.51 in a dozen appearances.
Several Bulldogs are gearing up for the playoffs of their respective leagues, including: Vance Tatum (Burlington Royals) and Austin Sexton (Johnson City Cardinals) in the Appalachian League (Rookie), Hunter Renfroe (El Paso Chihuahuas) in the Pacific Coast League and Jonathan Holder (Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders) in the International League (AAA), Evan Mitchell and Nick Routt (Pensacola Blue Wahoos) in the Southern League (AA), as well as Brett Pirtle and Zac Houston with the West Michigan Whitecaps in the Midwest League (Class A).
