
McBride Sets School Record In 800m Run

The senior All-American from Windsor, Ontario, blew past the field in 800m run Saturday at the Jace LaCoste Invitational, recording the fastest time in the world this year at 1:44.63. In doing so, he broke his own school record of 1:45.35 as Mississippi State closed out the regular season in grand fashion.
In addition to McBride's sensational performance, the Bulldogs also finished first in 10 other events as they now turn their focus toward the SEC Championships, slated for May 12-14 at Alabama.
“What a great way for Brandon to close out his career on his home track,” MSU coach Steve Dudley said. “He gets a school record and the fastest time in the world this year. But it was everyone today. It's the type of day you need going into the SECs.”
The men collected six first-place finishes. Joining McBride was Vince Castillo in the 400m hurdles with a personal-best time of 51:24.
In the 1500m run, Caden Foos took top honors with his a personal-best run of 3:53.35, three seconds better than his previous mark.
It was also a good day for Andrew Monagham in the 3000m run, as he posted a mark of 8:29.55 to claim medalist honors.
Also finishing tops was the 4x400 relay team of Alfred Larry, Juston Waters, Rasheed Tathan and Vince Castillo at 3:07.18.
And finally, Curtis Thompson continued his dominance with a throw of 251-08 in the javelin.
The MSU women were tops in five events, led by Carly Terp in the 3000m run with a personal-best time of 10:06.05.
Also with a personal best was Haley Reynolds in the shot put at 49-06.50.
In 1500m, Marta Freitas won at 4:13.46, while Logan Boss won the high jump at 5-07.00
And capping the day was the 4x400 relay team of Kimari Martin, Alon Lewis, Ste'yce McNeil and Shayla Luckett with a time of 3:39.05.
