Bulldogs Close Out SEC Championships

AUBURN, Ala. – Mississippi State track and field concluded the SEC Championships, hosted by Auburn, Saturday evening.Â
The final day of competition had several point-scoring performances for the Bulldogs, both on the track and the field.
The jumps squad kicked off the day on a high note, scoring points in all three events they competed in. Manie Mevo got things rolling in the women's triple jump, finishing sixth with a 13.10m mark earned in the final. Khalil Antoine earned a personal best of 2.17m in the high jump to tie fifth overall. Alla Parnov tied for seventh with a 4.06m jump in the pole vault, extending her No. 4 mark on the MSU all-time list.
Kevin Grubbs made his SEC outdoor debut in a big fashion, throwing 59.79m for a new personal best and a fifth-place finish. His mark improved to No. 2 on the MSU all-time list in the discus.
On the track, Nicholas Fakorede made his SEC 100m final debut. He crossed the line at 10.12, finishing fourth overall, just missing the podium.
Ife Adisa continued her upward momentum in the 800m, earning her third consecutive personal best in the 800m final. She crossed the line in 2:01.58, earning seventh overall and a new program freshman record. Her finish is the new Nigerian 800m National Record, and improves on her No. 2 mark on the MSU all-time list.
Harry Ross-Hughes and Sam Navarro posted strong performances in the men's 800m. Ross-Hughes just missed the podium, finishing fourth in 1:45.80. Navarro finished closely behind in seventh, running 1:46.45.
The Bulldogs closed the meet in the 4x400m relays. The women's relay, run by Ife Adisa, Adetutu Aladeloye, Camryn Merryman and De'Kayla Simpson.
The men's squad, made up of Keayari Lee, Malachi Burton Ross-Hughes and Sherman Hawkins, ran a season's best of 3:04.26 to finish seventh overall.
The men's team concluded the meet in 11th, amassing 39.5 points. The women earned 21.75 points over the weekend, with two podium finishes.
