
Rougetet Strikes Gold At SEC Championships

AUBURN, Ala. - Mississippi State track and field concluded the first day of the SEC Championships, hosted by Auburn, with an individual title and two scoring performances.
The throws squad had a big showing on the first day of the conference championships. Marie Rougetet won the hammer title with a 69.25m throw, holding the lead for the entirety of the competition. She is the first female SEC outdoor champion for State since 2018, and the first for hammer in program history.
The Narhi brothers both put up scoring performances in the throws. Juha Narhi finished seventh in the hammer with a 66.48m throw, extending his program record and earning two points for the Bulldogs. Tuomas Narhi finished sixth in the javelin with a 74.30m throw, adding three points for State.
Sacha Rifflart leads the decathlon field on the first day of the meet, earning personal bests in the shot put and long jump. He will conclude the final five events tomorrow, beginning with the 110m hurdles.
Ife Adisa ran 2:03.03 in the 800m preliminary round, setting a new freshman record and extending her second-fastest time in MSU program history. Adisa earned a time qualifying spot for the 800m final, to be run on Saturday. Harry Ross-Hughes and Sam Navarro also earned spots in the 800m final, to follow the women's final on day three of the meet.
The day concluded with the women's 10,000m, where Naomi Jepleting ran a personal best of 34:01.28, extending her second-fastest time in program history over the distance.
Competition will continue tomorrow morning in the men's decathlon 110m hurdles. The meet is available to stream on SECN+.
