Griesche Sets School Record At Music City Challenge

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Setting the Mississippi State school record, senior Cornelia Griesche finished first in the 5000m run clocking a time of 16:22.93 at the Music City Challenge.
“I'm really happy with my race," Griesche said. "I was feeling competent when I got to the 3000m mark and it started to get harder, but then I heard everyone cheering and I had Mia [Meydrich] next to me during the race and that pushed me. This was the first 5K I had fun running."
Griesche was immediately followed by teammate Mia Meydrich in second running a time of 16:33.16, the third-best time in school history. Also in the 5000m run, Kristy Terp placed 15th with a time of 18:42.59.
Finishing first for the second week in a row, Seth Peace cleared 7-00.25 in the high jump. For the women, Logan Boss cleared 5-07.75 to place second overall in the high jump.
After making it to the finals, Brianna Smith finished sixth in the weight throw with a toss of 56-04.75.
Alon Lewis recorded a time of 25.53 to finish 23rd in the 200m dash. Zaria Tillman placed 26th after clocking a personal-best time of 25.60 in the event.
In the men's 200m dash, Rodrigo Rocha finished third with a time of 21.41. Immediately following Rocha in fourth place was Philip Smith recording a time of 21.58. Also earning a Top 10 finish, Rasheed Tatham ran a time of 22.06 to finish ninth.
Action will resume Saturday morning featuring distance runner Antonia Hehr in the 3000m run at 10 a.m. CT, while Sydney Rodkey will kick off action in the field with the pole vault at noon.
