October 25, 2016 | Men's Golf
VERO BEACH, Fla. – Taylor Bibbs' career day led the Mississippi State men's golf team to a final-round 282 and seventh-place finish to close the fall season at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational.
Bibbs tied his career-low round with a 4-under-par 68 to tie for 11th, also a personal best.
MSU posted its second-lowest score of the fall campaign with a 7-under 857.
"I like the consistency our team competed with this fall," MSU coach Clay Homan said. "They are getting better and better, and they are much improved from a season ago."
Ross Bell joined Bibbs in the Top 25, shaving two shots off his second round to shoot 71 and finish tied for 21st.
Freshman Garrett Johnson, who competed in all five fall tournaments, tied for 28th after carding a 72 on Tuesday.
Jackson Dick shot a final-round 72 to end the fall finale tied for 43rd.
Rounding out the Bulldog scorecard, Taylor Grant finished in a tie for 51st after firing a 74.
"We need to use the offseason to further develop and take that next step," Homan said.
Michigan State won the team title, while Ilari Saulo of Middle Tennessee State claimed the individual crown.
The Maroon and White has three months off before returning to the links on February 23rd at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate.
