VERO BEACH, Fla. – To open the final tournament of the fall campaign, the Mississippi State men's golf team shot a 36-hole total of 575 to enter Tuesday's final round in a tie for eighth position.
The duo of Ross Bell and Taylor Bibbs are tied for 17th after firing 1-under-par 143s.
"I was proud of the way the team finished off our rounds today," MSU sophomore Ross Bell said. "Hopefully it will give us some momentum going into tomorrow."
Freshman Garrett Johnson shot an opening-round 71 before finishing the day with a 144 to tie for 28th place.
Jackson Dick shot a two-round total of 147, tying the senior for 48th with Taylor Grant.
"I was happy to see how the team competed in tough conditions," MSU junior Taylor Bibbs said. "I started off average but in the second round my putter got hot."
Michigan State leads the team standings while Middle Tennessee State's Ilari Saulo sits atop the leaderboard with 18 holes remaining.
MSU tees up the final round at 7:45 a.m. CT Tuesday.
