Pair of Bulldogs Advance At ITA All-American Championships

"I think we played some good matches today," said head coach Per Nilsson. "We should be ready for some tougher competition tomorrow, but overall we showed up and played solid today."
Lastre won a pair of matches on Saturday, taking down Kazuya Komada of Western Michigan in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0, in the first. He followed that up with a second-round victory over Wichita State's David Cavalcanti in two-sets, 6-4, 6-3.
State's Cant received a first round bye and in his first match of the day walked away with a win over Sven Kasper of Wichita State, blanking the first set, 6-0, then taking the match in the second set, 6-2.
Lastre and Cant will hit the courts tomorrow and need to win two matches so they can advance to the qualifying bracket of the ITA All-American Championships, where MSU has a pair of sophomores Artem Ilyushin and George Coupland already seeded in the qualifying bracket.
