CAREER: Instinctive linebacker who persevered through injuries and become one of the heart and soul leaders of the defense … Suffered three torn ACLs (one in his right knee in high school and two in his left knee at the college level) … Made a speedy recovery and played the entire 2016 season … Saw most of his action at the Mike linebacker spot … Selected as a team captain prior to his senior season … Played in 36 games with 10 starts … Finished his career with 112 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and two sacks.
2017 SENIOR SEASON: The leader of the defense in the middle who started 10 games and was a team captain … Missed the final three games of the year – Arkansas, Ole Miss and the TaxSlayer Bowl – due to a leg injury sustained during the Alabama game (11/11) … Was the team’s leading tackler for the year before the injury and finished fifth on the squad in tackles with 56 … Added three tackles for loss and two sacks … Collected five tackles and one tackle for loss in his first career start in opener against Charleston Southern (9/2) … Notched his first career sack a week later in win at Louisiana Tech (9/9) … Strong game against LSU with six tackles (9/16) … Racked up a game-high and career-best 12 tackles and one forced fumble at Georgia (9/23) … Solid game in win over Kentucky (10/21) with nine tackles, one tackle for loss … Tallied seven tackles against UMass (11/3) … Chosen to represent MSU at SEC Media Day in July … Recipient of the team’s senior award at the Jackson Touchdown Club banquet in December.
2016 JUNIOR SEASON: Competed for the Bulldogs in all 13 games during the 2016 campaign with no starts … Tallied 37 total tackles, including 2.5 tackles for loss … Recorded a career-high five tackles three times during his junior season: at LSU (9/17), at Alabama (11/12) and vs. Arkansas (11/29) … Forced two Leonard Fournette fumbles in the fourth quarter at LSU, including first of his career … Recorded his first career tackle for loss along with three more tackles at BYU (10/14)… Credited with a career-high 1.5 tackles for loss against Arkansas (11/19).
2015 SOPHOMORE SEASON: Played in seven games with no starts … Suffered torn ACL in his left knee in the second half of the Louisiana Tech game (10/17) and missed the final six games of the year … Accumulated nine tackles on the year … Had at least one tackle in all seven games he played … Recorded two tackles vs. No. 14 LSU (9/12) … Credited with two stops in the Northwestern State win (9/19).
2014 REDSHIRT FRESHMAN SEASON: Saw time in six games as a late-game linebacker and an option for kickoff coverage on special teams … Collected 10 total tackles, six unassisted … Made a tackle in five-straight games, four of which were multiple-tackle performances … Picked up the first tackle of his career vs. Southern Miss (8/30) on a one-yard run in the second quarter … Made a career-best four tackles against Southern Miss … Tallied two tackles vs. UAB (9/6), one of which came on special teams kickoff coverage … Recorded another tackle on kick coverage at LSU (9/13) in the second quarter … Both of his tackles against Texas A&M (10/4) came as part of the special teams unit … Suffered a season-ending injury in the form of a torn ACL in his left knee against Auburn (10/11).
