CAREER:
One of four seniors on MSU’s 16-man pitching staff ? One of three former Meridian Community College players on the 2008 MSU squad and former Eupora High School teammate of MSU freshman pitcher Devin Jones ? Pitched with MSU teammate Greg Houston for the Danville Dans last summer (3-2, 2.85 ERA) in the Central Illinois Collegiate League.
2008:
Made 11 mound appearances in his first season as a Bulldog, drawing four starts ? Compiled a 2-3 record and a 6.37 earned run average in 35-1/3 innings ? Made his MSU debut with an inning of relief work in a 6-3 MSU win over Arkansas-Little Rock (Mar. 5) ? In his second appearance drew his first career start and win while notching his first quality pitching start against Mississippi Valley State (Mar. 11) ? Fanned a season-best six in a season-longest seven innings of scoreless pitching against MVSU ? Earned his second win a week later with three innings of middle inning relief in State’s 24-10 win at UAB (Mar. 18) ? Started and worked 6-1/3 innings in his SEC debut against South Carolina (Mar. 22) ? Also drew starts against SEC foes Georgia (Mar. 29) and Kentucky (Apr. 5) ? Appeared in five SEC games, finishing with a 0-3 record and 7.27 ERA in 17-1/3 innings.
JUNIOR COLLEGE:
Two-year starting pitcher at Meridian Community College ? Coached by Chris Rose and teammate of fellow MSU signee Tyler Moore ? Compiled a 7-1 record with a staff-leading 1.93 earned run average and 51 strikeouts in 65-1/3 innings pitched ? Drew 11 starts and recorded three complete games in 12 mound appearances ? Helped pitch the Eagles to a 41-15 record ? Earned third-team NJCAA All-American, All-Region 23, all-state and all-district honors in 2007 ? Earned second-team MACJC All-State honors as a freshman ? Picked up three wins and two saves and posted a 2.59 ERA in helping lead the Eagles to a 35-17 record and the 2006 MACJC state championship.
