HIGH SCHOOL:
Three-time all-state honoree as an outfielder at Lamar Consolidated High School in Sugar Land, Texas • Coached by Greg Kobza • Paced the Mustangs as a senior with a .524 batting average and 49 RBI en route to first-team all-state, all-district and All-Greater Houston honors in 2010 • Legged out 18 doubles, seven triples and six home runs, all team-bests, while recording five stolen bases • Also starred on the mound as a southpaw relief ace, notching a win and staff-high nine saves • Registered 64 strikeouts, allowing one run in 25 innings of relief • Earned honorable mention all-state plaudits in 2008 and 2009 • Hit .420 with 35 hits, 35 RBI and 13 extra-base hits as a junior • Also pilfered 20 bases • Earned first-team all-district and all-area honors and was selected to play in the Houston Area Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Game • Hit .410 with 17 extra-base hits and a team-best 23 stolen bases as a sophomore and tabbed as his district's top freshman after hitting .456 with 24 stolen bases in 2007 • Four-year member of LCHS's A-B Honor Roll • Played summer league baseball in Houston for the Columbia Angels, coached by Clay Hill.
