Bulldogs drop 10-3 decision to Seminoles.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Host Florida State used a five-run third inning, highlighted by a grand slam, to power its way past Mississippi State 10-3 on Saturday night at the Tallahassee Regional. With their win, the seventh-ranked Seminoles now advance to the regional championship round while the Bulldogs will square off with No. 19 Northeastern at 11 a.m. CT Sunday for the right to challenge FSU.
Noah Sullivan and Hunter Hines each hit home runs for Mississippi State, but it was far from enough for the Diamond Dawgs. Sullivan and Hines accounted for all of their team's five hits.
Florida State's offense was fueled by nine hits and 14 walks issued by Mississippi State pitchers. Three of FSU's hits left the ballpark.
Pico Kohn drew the start on the mound for MSU. The left-hander struck out seven Seminoles over 3 2/3 innings but was saddled with the loss to drop to 5-4 for the year.
