STARKVILLE – The ninth-seeded Mississippi State Bulldogs open this year's NCAA Tournament against the California Golden Bears on Saturday, March 22. Tipoff for the contest is set for 4:30 p.m. CT on ESPN2.

NOTES:
- The Mississippi State Bulldogs will be making their 13th tournament appearance this season. State has made the tournament in two of three years under Sam Purcell.
- The Bulldogs were named the ninth seed for the first time in program.
- Mississippi State has an all-time record of 24-12 in the NCAA Tournament. They have advance to at least the Sweet Sixteen in five of their 13 appearances.
- In their last appearance in the NCAA Tournament during the 2022-23 season, Mississippi State became the first team in history to advance out of the First Four round after beating Illinois 70-56 in South Bend, Indiana.
- The Bulldogs will be playing in the state of California for just the third time in program history. State has a 2-2 record all-time in The Golden State. Their last appearance was in the Women of Troy Classic inside the Galen Center during the 2016-17 season, where the Dawgs earned victories against SMU (91-42) and USC (76-72). Morgan William (MVP) and current assistant coach Victoria Vivians were named to the All-Tournament Team.
- Jerkaila Jordan and Debreasha Powe are the lone two members on State's roster that played in the 2022-23 tournament.
- Eniya Russell has appeared in the NCAA Tournament two times with South Carolina while she was there her freshman and sophomore season. Chandler Prater sports one season of Tournament experience from her sophomore season at Kansas.
- The Bulldogs have excelled on the glass this season, outrebounding their opponents by 7.6 rebounds per game, which is the fourth best mark in the SEC and 19th best nationally. The bring in 40.6 per game, the 25th most in the country and fifth most in the conference.
- State ranks 30th in the country and fifth in the SEC with a 46.1 field goal percentage. They are 28th in the nation and fifth in the SEC with 4.5 blocks per game.
- Madina Okot ranks fifth in the nation and second in the SEC with a 65.8 field goal percentage and is second in the SEC with 9.6 rebounds per game. She's finished with 10+ points 21 times this season, 10 of those being in SEC and SEC Tournament games.
- Jerkaila Jordan is averaging 15.4 points in her last five games, along with 5.8 rebounds, 2.2 steals and 2.2 assists.
- Debreasha Powe is shooting 40.4 from deep this season, which is the third-best mark in the conference and 32nd best mark in the country. She is one of four players in the SEC to average above 40 percent from deep this season and ranks second in the SEC.
