STARKVILLE – Mississippi State's women's basketball team earned their fourth-consecutive victory of the season after defeating the Jackson State Tigers, 82-55.
Â
"It feels great to get another win anytime you play here, and we were able to watch this team continue and grow," coach Sam Purcell said. "The first quarter was as good as basketball as we have played this season."
Â
The Bulldogs came out on fire in the first quarter, opening the game on a 9-0 run. State scored 22 points in the opening quarter, outscoring Jackson State by 17. As a team, the Bulldogs shot 62.5 percent, which was the best percentage of any quarter so far this season.

Â
Jaylah Lampley also scored a career-high 17 points in the contest on an efficient 7-8 shooting from the floor, including a pair of makes from deep. It was her third performance in double-figures.

QUOTING THE BULLDOGS
Jaylah Lampley on unselfish play…
"I think we are very unselfish as a team and it's a no brainer that we have six plus players that have double digits, very unselfish, very efficient. We get in the gym every day and try to get 1% better."
Â
Chandler Prater on Favour Nwaedozi…
"She's so humble and she just wants to get better and wants everyone around her to get better. We are so blessed to have her as a teammate; you couldn't ask for a better teammate."
Â
Sam Purcell on Trayanna Crisp...

Â
Sam Purcell on Trayanna Crisp...
"I want to give credit to her. In our first three games, she was the most unselfish player. It's human nature for someone to want to get more shots or more playing time. That kid was just happy she got three shots per game, because most importantly, we were winning. The game rewards her for being unselfish and a great teammate.
