
Bulldogs Fall To Texas Tech

LUBBOCK, Texas – Mississippi State women's basketball was unable to sustain their hot start against Texas Tech, as they lost their first contest of the season to the Red Raiders, 69-62.
The Bulldogs scored 31 points in the opening quarter of action, the most the scored in the first quarter this year while tying their second-most points in a quarter this season. The Bulldogs shot 53 percent from the floor in the first ten minutes.
Trayanna Crisp tied her season-high of 12 points after shooting 2-4 from beyond the arch and knocking down all six of her free throws. Destiney McPhaul also led State with 12 points in the contest, drulling two threes. McPhaul also totaled four rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block.
Madison Francis made her first career start and totaled 10 points, alongside four rebounds. Favour Nwaedozi scored nine with nine rebounds while Chandler Prater tallied six points and and six rebounds. Kharyssa Richardson finished one rebound shy of double-digits, bringing in nine boards.
The Bulldogs will be back in action when they head to Niceville, Florida for the Emerald Coast Classic. The Bulldogs will kick off the tournament on Monday with a matchup with an in-state opponent, Alcorn State. The Bulldogs will then face off with Middle Tennessee or Providence on Tuesday.
