Cirotte Reaches Career Milestone On Sunday

KNOXVILLE, Tenn., - Mississippi State senior Chloé Cirotte reached a milestone at 18^th-ranked Tennessee on Sunday afternoon.

Cirotte won her 50^th career singles match by defeating Alana Wolfberg in three sets. Cirotte, who moved up a spot to No. 2 in the Bulldogs' singles lineup prior to the match, split the first two sets with Wolfberg 6-3, 2-6 and was able to outlast the Volunteer 10-6 in a third-set super tiebreaker.

The win was especially gratifying for Cirotte. Not only was it her first Southeastern Conference singles victory of the season, it was her first since April 20, 2022 after battling back from a knee injury that cost her all but three SEC matches last season.

Cirotte's individual achievement, however, was the only victory MSU would be able to muster in a 6-1 loss. Tennessee (15-6, 7-4 SEC) was the 11^th consecutive ranked opponent the Bulldogs have faced to start league play.

State (10-14, 0-11 SEC) closes out its regular season at home next weekend. Chris Hooshyar's Bulldogs begin the homestand against No. 41 Arkansas on Friday 3 p.m. It was originally scheduled to be part of a doubleheader against Alcorn State, but that makeup match from Jan. 20 has been canceled.
