Bulldogs Fall To No. 46 Arkansas

STARKVILLE – Maria Rizzolo won her team-leading 14th singles match of the season but it was not enough for Mississippi State to overcome 46th-ranked Arkansas on Friday.
The 6-1 setback to the Razorbacks continues a string of a dozen straight ranked opponents MSU has squared off against to start Southeastern Conference play this season.
Rizzolo claimed her third SEC win of the season when Arkansas' Kelly Keller retired in the third set. Keller won the first set 6-4 before Rizzolo came back from a 4-1 deficit to win to take the second set 6-4. However, Keller ended up retiring up 2-1 in the third set.
Play at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre ended when freshman Jayna Clemens fell after a pair of tough-luck tiebreaker sets. Arkansas' Anet Koskel topped Clemens 7-6(6), 7-6(3) as the Hogs improved to 4-8 in the league and evened their overall record to 11-11.
Chris Hooshyar's Bulldogs (10-15, 0-12 SEC) close out their regular season by hosting Missouri on Sunday at noon. Chloé Cirotte and Alexandra Mikhailuk will be honored following the match against the Tigers as part of Senior Day festivities.
