Bulldogs Conclude The Regular Season At The Maroon And White Invite

STARKVILLE – The Mississippi State Bulldogs concluded its regular 2024 outdoor season at home with the Maroon and White Invite on Saturday. The Freshman Jordan Ware highlighted the day with first place in the 100m ranks fifth on States all-time top five list, while the rest of the Bulldogs secured nine personal records despite a windy final day.
Two-time SEC Runner of the Week Jordan Ware earned first, posting a wind-aided time of 10.09w. His time currently ranks fifth in the South Region and 14th nationally. Ware ranks third nationally in the 200m with a time of 20.18w, also earned at home at the Bulldog Alumni Relays.
Four Bulldogs ran personal best times in the 400m. Freshman Jaitlyn Ware improved her time to 55.32, three-hundredths of a second faster than her previous time set at the Bulldogs Alumni Relays. On the men's side, Omari Hammond, Ben Murray and Lewis Barber set new personal bests. Hammond finished with a time of 49.14 bettering his season best by over a second and setting a new personal record in the race for the first time since the 2023 Bulldog Relays.
Freshman Madelyn Keating and sophomore Hunter Anderson did not let the wind stop them in the 1500m. Keating bettered her time by over eight seconds, finishing with a time of 4:39.25. Anderson set a new personal record for the second week in a row and finished with a time of 4:27.95
Multis' men Lewis Barber and Peyton Bair improved their shot put performance. Barber threw a distance of 12.12m (39-9.25), over a foot more than his previous best mark. Bair improved his outdoor shot put distance for the first time since the 2023 SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championship with a mark of 13.87m (45-6.25). He currently ranks second nationally in the decathlon.
The track and field program honored its seniors on Saturday. Those who were honored include: Nolan Krol, Rosealee Cooper, Jordan Barrow, Frank Di Sanza, Tyrese Reid, Shamar Rose, Daniel Joyce, Sema'j Daniels, Kennedy Jackson, Alfonso Hale Jr., Samuel Smith, Jayson Ashford, Julia Lasley, Ella Knott and Danielle Brissett. The group who entered in the fall of 2020 is the first recuriting class under Head Coach Chris Woods.
The Bulldogs will take a week off before heading to Gainesville, Florida for the 2024 SEC Championships. Following the SEC Championships, athletes who rank in the top 48 of the South Region, in their respective event, will then head to Lexington, Kentucky for the second post-season competition, NCAA First Rounds.
