Diamond Dawgs Win Seventh Straight; Down Evansville, 5-2

Dakota Jordan went 4-for-4 in the first game of the series.
STARKVILLE – The Mississippi State baseball team defeated the University of Evansville Aces on Friday night by a score of 5-2 in game one of the series. The win for the Dawgs was the seventh straight victory.
Nate Dohm drew the start for the Maroon and White, earning his third win on the season. In six innings of work, he stuck out 10, gave up just two earned runs and one walk.This is the second time he has posted 10 Ks this season. Dohm slowed down the Aces' offense, which was red-hot coming into Dudy Noble, having the ninth-best batting average as a team in the nation. The duo of Tyson Hardin and Brooks Auger closed the game for the Bulldogs, only giving up three hits in two innings of work combined.
Dakota Jordan and Hunter Hines put on a two-man show at the plate. They accumulated seven of the Bulldogs 11 hits and all five of the RBIs. Jordan was perfect from the plate, going 4-for-4 with four RBIs, while Hines went 3-for-5 with one RBI. Six different players tallied a hit for the Dawgs.
Mississippi State is back in action on Saturday at 4 p.m. for game two against Evansville. The game will be broadcast on SECN+.
