STAKRVILLE - In front of the largest opening day crowd in Mississippi State's history (11,216), Mississippi State (1-0) shined offensively and defensively en route to an 8-4 victory over Air Force. Bryce Chance hit a two-run homer to put the Dawgs in the seventh inning giving MSU the lead that it never gave back up.Â
Â
The Diamond Dawgs were led by two hit days from Dakota Jordan and Bryce Chance, who each hit a home run in the game. Jordan went 2-for-4, while scoring three runs in the game. His homer in the bottom of the fifth sparked the MSU offense.Â
Chance, who was 2-for-5, put the Dawgs ahead in the bottom of the seventh inning when he hit a two-run home run. This marked his second-straight opening day with a homer. Chance drove in a team-high three runs in the game.Â
Â
Nate Dohm got the start on the mound. In four innings of work, he only allowed one earned run and fanned four. Tyler Davis came in during the seventh and shut the Falcons in his lone inning of work, to pick up his first win of the season. Cam Schuelke pitched two scoreless innings in his MSU debut to pick up the save.Â
