TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Mississippi State is back in action on Friday as its women's tennis team travels to across the state line for the Roberta Alison Fall Classic.

Play is set to begin on Friday with doubles action at 9 a.m. followed by two rounds of singles matches beginning at approximately 10 a.m. Play concludes on Saturday with one round of doubles at 9 a.m. followed by a round of singles.

Athletes from nine different programs will be participating in the tournament. Alongside Mississippi State and host Alabama, Auburn, ETSU, Louisville, Georgia, Georgia Tech, South Alabama and Troy are all in action outdoors at the Alabama Tennis Stadium and indoors at the Roberta Alison Baumgardner Tennis Facility.

Chris Hooshyar's Bulldogs are looking to continue the momentum after collecting nine wins during the ITA Southern Regionals in early October. The Bulldogs will be facing tough competition in Tuscaloosa with Georgia (3), Auburn (17) and Georgia Tech (25) all finishing in the top 25 of the ITA rankings last spring.

"I'm looking forward to this weekend," Hooshyar said. "We have the opportunity to battle against multiple top 25 teams. With the more matches we play, the more opportunities we get to better ourselves and solidify the habits we are creating on the practice court. I want to see fight and hunger this weekend."

The Maroon and White are set to have all nine players in action over the weekend.

After posting a 2-1 mark in doubles at the Samford Round Robin #2, Emma Cohen and Athina Pitta pair up again to face Ralitsa Alexandrova and Jayna Rovira of ETSU. After advancing to the doubles quarterfinals during the ITA Southern Regionals, Chiara Di Genova and Maria Rizzolo take on Auburn's Alice Battesti and Emma Tothova. Jayna Clemens and Gianna Oboniye team up for the first time taking on Elisabeth Lila and Alice Otis of Louisville. Alessia Tagliente and Carolina Troiano face Louisville's duo of Allie Gretkowski and Lika Peresykina.

In the first round of singles action, Tagliente squares off with ETSU's Ksenja Rage. Oboniye takes the court against Auburn's Alice Battesti. Pitta takes on Georgia's Sarah Branicki. Di Genova faces off against Elena Noguera of Louisville and Clemens meets ETSU's Jana Rovira. Troiano matches up against Alabama's Klara Milicevic, Cohen battles Maria Guirguis of Troy and Rizzolo faces Meera Jesudason of Georgia Tech. Tuscaloosa native Ava Rath is also set to make her fall debut against Lara Van der Merwe of South Alabama.

Following a brief break, the Bulldogs continue in action with Round 2 of singles play on Friday afternoon. Troiano squares off against ETSU's Julia Millan, Di Genova takes on Meera Jesudason of Georgia Tech and Pitta battles South Alabama's Delien Kleinhams. Cohen also faces off against Valeriia Avdeeva of Troy while Rizzolo squares off with Auburn's Emma Tothova and Oboniye takes on Hayden Mulberry of Georgia. Clemens is also set to do battle with ETSU's Ksenja Rage, Tagliente faces Rio Maeda of South Alabama and Rath squares off against Troy's Emilia Namyslo.
