State Heads To Missouri And No. 8 Arkansas

STARKVILLE – The Mississippi State volleyball team concludes its four-match road swing this Friday and Sunday, as they travel to Columbia, Missouri, and Fayetteville, Arkansas.
The Bulldogs will face Missouri on Friday at 6:30 p.m. CT at the Hearnes Center before taking on No. 8 Arkansas at 3 p.m. on Sunday in the Barnhill Arena. Both matches will be streamed on SEC Network+ and the Watch ESPN app.
"We are always excited for an opportunity to compete," head coach Julie Darty Dennis said. "This is a tough weekend on the road but I think the Dawgs are ready to compete. I am proud of the work we have put in during the week to get ourselves prepared and ready for two very good opponents. We are going to have to stay focused and dialed in but I know this team is capable of playing great volleyball and I feel confident that they will bring it this weekend."
State is coming off a 3-0 win at Alabama last Friday and a 3-0 loss at Georgia on Sunday. MSU is 11-10 overall and 4-7 in SEC play. Missouri comes into the match on Friday 13-9 overall and 5-6 in league play. No. 8 Arkansas is 20-4 on the season and 10-2 in conference.
Right side Amina Shackelford has been lights out at the net by earning 2.07 kills per set and tallying 0.82 blocks per set, while Caylee Sharkey has tallied 1.05 kills per set on the season.
Sophie Agee has amassed 10 or more kills in 12 matches and led the Bulldogs in four consecutive matches, while also collecting 1.88 digs per set. Karli Schmidt has ripped 2.97 kills per set on a .219 hitting percentage. She has reeled in 10-plus kills in 13 outings.
Middle blocker Rebecca Walk has earned 1.72 kills per set on a .377 hitting clip, which ranks first on the hitting percentage SEC leaderboard. Walk is tied for second on the squad with 1.03 blocks per set. Sanna Williams has totaled 1.08 blocks per set, which ranks first on the team.
MSU setters, Erin Kline and Emily Oerther, have dished out 7.99 assists per set. Kline registered 3.14 assists per set on the season, while Oerther leads the team with 4.85 assists per set.
Libero Lauren Myrick has tallied 10-plus digs in 19 mathces, spearheaded by 20-plus digs in six of those outings. Myrick earned her 1,000th career dig in the first play of the match last Friday against Alabama (10/27). Her 4.37 digs per set rank second in the SEC standings.
Defensive specialist Mary Neal has recorded 2.12 digs per set during her freshman season.
