Bulldogs Travel To Face No. 20 Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Mississippi State's volleyball team faces its third ranked opponent of the season Friday, as the Bulldogs head to Lexington to face No. 20 Kentucky in Rupp Arena.
First serve is set for 6 p.m. CT and will stream on SEC Network+ and the Watch ESPN app.
"We are looking forward to our trip to Lexington and having an opportunity to play a tough Kentucky team," head coach Julie Darty Dennis said. "We have had a good stretch of practice and we are focused and dialed in. I am just excited for this team to continue to take steps forward together. It's about attitude and they certainly have the right attitude and approach heading into a tough road trip."
State is coming off a historic win as it took down No. 14 Florida last Friday, 3-1. The victory marked the first win at home against Florida and the second win against the Gators in program history.
Right side Amina Shackelford has managed 1.98 kills per set, fueled by a season-high 18-kill performance during State's win against No. 14 Florida. For her efforts, she was named the SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Sophie Agee and Karli Schmidt continue to shine as outside hitters for State. The duo has combined for 19 matches of double-digit kills for the season. Agee has earned a trio of double-doubles and has amassed 10-plus kills in eight matches. Schmidt has registered 10 or more kills in 11 of 17 outings and cranked 3.11 kills per set on a .234 hitting percentage.
Middle blocker Rebecca Walk has earned 1.72 kills per set on a .424 hitting clip, which ranks first on the hitting percentage SEC leaderboard and 14th nationally. She also ranks first on the squad with 1.12 blocks per set and ninth in the SEC.
Sanaa Williams has totaled 1.02 blocks per set, while right side Caylee Sharkey has issued 1.08 kills per set.
Libero Lauren Myrick has tallied 10-plus digs in 15 appearances, spearheaded by 20-plus digs in six of those outings. Her 4.53 digs per set rank second in the SEC standings.
Defensive specialist Mary Neal has collected 2.19 digs per set during her freshman campaign.
State's setting duo of Erin Kline and Emily Oerther have dished out 8.24 assists per set. Kline registered a season-best 17 assists last weekend against No. 14 Florida, while Oerther also earned a season-high 29 assists against the Gators. Oerther leads the team with 4.57 assists per set. Â
The Bulldogs continue to rank among the SEC's top five in blocks per set (2.50 – 3rd) and digs per set (14.26 – 4th).
Mississippi State is 9-8 overall and 2-5 in league play. The Wildcats are 8-7 overall and 6-1 in conference play and are coming off a 3-0 win against No. 10 Tennessee (10/15).
