
Diamond Dawgs Freshman Class Ranked No. 2 by D1 Baseball

D1 Baseball ranked the Dimond Dawgs as the second-best freshman class
STARKVILLE – The Mississippi State Diamond Dawgs have another talented freshman class. According to D1 Baseball, the Diamond Dawgs have the second-best freshmen class. The freshmen class features four top 100 recruits on the PBR 500.

Of the four recruits in the top 100 are Ross Highfill (No. 39), Dakota Jordan (No. 40, Bradley Loftin (No. 42) and Jurrangelo Cijntje (No. 86). Besides four in the top 100, Logan Forsythe (No. 123), Will Gibbs (No. 421) were also highly ranked recruits. According to D1 Baseball the sleeper in the class is David Mershon.
Last week, Perfect Game ranked four Diamond Dawgs in the Top 100 Freshmen. Included in the Perfect Game rankings were Dakota Jordan, Jurrangelo Cijntje, Ross Highfill and Bradley Loftin.
The 2023 season gets underway on Feb. 17 when the Diamond Dawgs host VMI in a three-game series at Dudy Noble Field in Starkville.
Mississippi State's 56-game schedule features 33 home games, 16 road contests, and seven neutral-site matchups. The schedule features a pair of lengthy homestands, as Dudy Noble Field hosts an 8-game homestand to open the campaign (Feb. 18 - 26), followed by nine straight home games from March 21-April 4.
